The United Nations Agencies in Albania and AGNA Group -embarked
on a partnership to spread awareness and generate support to make the Global Goals a reality in
UN and AGNA group will work to bring SDGs closer to every home through their ‘Spring’
water, which is distributed widely all over Albania in minimarkets, supermarkets, institutions,
private businesses and more. 20 Million water bottles have been labeled with Sustainable
Development Goal 3 icon: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
The new “Spring” label highlighting SDG 3, calls on society at large to live healthy lives and
promotes wellbeing for all. The new label takes the costumer to the UN-Albania website where
those interested can learn more about the Global Goals. The campaign will run for a period of six
The UN Resident Coordinator in Albania Brian Williams stated: “The SDGs represent an
ambitious development agenda for Albania and the entire world. This level of ambition needs to
be matched with partnerships, innovation and resources to ensure implementation. The private
sector plays an indispensable role. We are happy to partner with AGNA Group who will make a great contribution through Spring water in terms of raising awareness and engaging Albanians on SDG3, aiming to promote health and well-being for all. And this is not just charity work: healthy citizens are critical for any business model. For companies like AGNA, achievement of the SDGs will strengthen the environment for doing business enabling them to operate in a stable economy”.
The President of Agna group Vasil Naci stated “We are very pleased to partner with the
United Nations Agencies in Albania in the framework of our Corporate Social Responsibility, to promote good health and wellbeing for all Albanians, and to encourage actions by all
institutions, businesses and society at large to contribute to the achievement of the Global Goals”.
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals were adopted in 2015 by 193 nations, and cover all three
dimensions of sustainable development – the social, environmental and economic. The
achievement of Agenda 2030 depends upon various sectors and actors coming together to ensure
financial resources, knowledge and expertise. It also requires the establishment of partnerships
with policy makers, civil society, and private companies to generate multi-sectoral solutions to achieve the Global Goals. As such, companies are also called upon to make concrete contributions.
Two years ago, the UN in Albania and the Government signed the new 5-year Programme of
Cooperation for Sustainable Development, which is fully aligned with the Sustainable
Development Goals. The new programme articulates the focus of all 17 UN Agencies active in
Albania regarding the implementation of SDGs in line with NSDI priorities.
