» Government of Albania
The Government of Albania is the main partner of the United Nations. The Government of Albania – United Nations Programme of Cooperation 2012-2016 supports national priorities and was drafted following intensive consultations with line ministries, civil society and development partners. The new programme brings together the support of 19 UN agencies, funds and programmes, plus the International Organisation for Migration, to Albania’s development priorities. Each agency works closely with government counterparts to provide technical assistance and build capacity in their area of expertise.
The United Nations works with the Government of Albania at both central and local levels. At the central level the partnership includes the Office of the Prime Minister and the President as well as line ministries, Parliament, and other state agencies. Work at the local level is undertaken with regional and municipal authorities.
The Government of Albania invests funds, personnel and in kind contributions to UN funded programmes, demonstrating its ownership of programmes and commitment to results.
The Department of Strategy and Donor Coordination (DSDC) within the Council of Ministers is responsible for social and economic strategy coordination and monitoring, and policy and aid coordination. The DSDC is also the Government`s focal point for the One UN Programme.
